Jim Dougherty brings a distinguished operating track record to Great Hill Partners. As an Operating Partner, Jim works with portfolio company management teams to maximize performance and participates in investment evaluation and transaction diligence. Jim has successfully turned around and built three companies, IntraLinks, Gartner Group and MetaMatrix. As CEO of IntraLinks, Dougherty repositioned a small, money losing operation into a highly profitable and dominant shared workspace platform. Over three years, Jim rebuilt the technology, changed the revenue model, increased booking over 10x and built a market leading team. Jim was Head of Global Operations for Gartner Inc., overseeing a global tech information consultancy with 1,200 people and nearly $900 million of revenue. Jim is credited by analysts for reversing Gartner's 3-year decline in contract value and concurrent rebound in stock price. As CEO of MetaMatrix, Jim repositioned a troubled company and successfully sold the operation. Jim was previously head of Lotus' Internet Division and CEO of Prodigy Software. In addition to a diverse set of executive and management skills, Jim serves as a Senior Fellow in business and foreign policy on the Council on Foreign Relations, as a director of the Starbright Foundation and as a board member of the Foreign Policy Association. Jim holds a Masters of International Economics from Columbia University, a CSS in Administration & Finance from Harvard University and a B.A. in Public Administration from Framingham State College.
